Industrial corridor covering Bihar gets Prime Minister’s go-ahead

| PATNA: There is some good news for Bihar. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday approved the commencement of preparatory work on Amritsar-Delhi-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (ADKIC), which will cover Bihar, among other states. The ADKIC will cover the states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. This is one of the most densely populated regions in the world and houses about 40% of India’s population. According to a government press release, this is a region which needs a major push for industrialization and job creation, and the ADKIC will act as a catalyst for this growth. Metro SPV is now Chandigarh Tricity Multi-Modal Transport Corporation

| The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the Metro Rail will be named as the Chandigarh Tricity Multi-Modal Transport Corporation (CTMTC) and will be formed as a company. The exact equity structure, however, will be decided in the coming days. The decisions were taken in a meeting attended by officials of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on Friday that was held to discuss modalities of the Metro Rail project. While discussions have been going on for the past several months, the two states and Chandigarh are yet to reach a formal agreement on terms and conditions. Wellingdon Colony tenants file writ in HC

| Tenant-members of Wellingdon Colony, Santacruz (West), filed a writ petition in Bombay HC Friday and an appeal before the slum rehabilitation authority (SRA) to stop demolition of proposed heritage properties in the cooperative society. Five century-old cottages in the heritage precinct were razed Thursday. The tenants are opposing redevelopment of the 5.5-acre plot by builder and new land-owner Sumer Associates, which has proposed a transit accommodation for SRA under section 33 (14) (d) of the revised development control regulations of 2009. “We filed a writ today in HC but have not yet got a hearing date. New home launches tumble in NCR

| TNS Property market of the National Capital Region (NCR) saw 39 per cent fall in the new launches of apartments to about 7,600 units during January-March period compared with the previous quarter, global realty consultant Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) said. In the top eight cities of the country, C&W said an estimated 38,000 residential units were launched in the first quarter of 2013, registering a marginal fall of about 2 per cent over the previous quarter. ‘Home prices in A’bad stagnant for a year’

| There has been no rise in the prices of residential real estates in Ahmedabad during the last one year, according to the latest data from the quarterly report of Cushman and Wakefield (C&W), a global consultant. “The cost of homes in Ahmedabad were jacked up artificially during the last few years. There are no buyers at the present rates, causing the markets to stagnate,” said Pravin Bavadiya, president of Ahmedabad Realtors’ Association, a body of consultants and brokers. ‘DLF-HUDA road project doesn’t have green nod’

| GURGAON: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) was on Thursday informed by Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) that the road-widening project of DLF and HUDA in Sectors 55-56 of Gurgaon, which is embroiled in controversy over cutting of trees, requires environmental clearance (EC). A vacation bench of the NGT headed by Justice P Jyothimani directed the HSPCB to file an affidavit stating that the project, near National Highway 8, requires environmental clearance, after real estate major DLF claimed the pollution control board’s stand was “manifestly wrong in law”. External development charge pending, developer denied licence renewal

| GURGAON: The Directorate of Town and Country Planning, Haryana, has refused the licence renewal application of Parsvnath Developers Ltd. on account of non-payment of external development charge running into crores of rupees. The developer was given enough time before it was communicated about the DTCP decision on June 4. The DTCP had in 2006 granted the builder licence for developing a group housing on an 18.94-acre piece of land in Sonipat. According to a senior DTCP official, the licence was valid up to 2008.
